About the Upton Ultra
The Upton Ultra is a new challenge in the ultra running calendar and will take place on 16th June 2018. Organised by Cube Management UK Ltd, an experienced event management company, the event has been designed around the tried and tested formula of many other long distance sports.
Key to the event is a centralised start, mid point and finish. This will not only make the logistics for the competitors easier, it also allows for a static HQ for the organisers.
Cube has engaged with industry experts and is bringing together a highly skilled team who totally love the sport and have experience in making events succeed.
Join us in taking on this new challenge...Beacon to Beacon!
The Upton Ultra will start and finish in Upton upon Severn, Worcestershire, and will consist of two legs; leg one will head west and include a climb up onto the Malvern Hills, passing the Worcester Beacon before looping back into Upton.
The second leg will follow the banks of the rivers Severn and Avon, before heading east to the tower at the top of Bredon Hill and returning to Upton for the finish.
Athletes have the option of the full Upton Ultra 50 or can choose to run leg two, a 30 mile challenge around Bredon Hill.
The route is a mix of established national ways, bridleways, footpaths and some connecting tarmac roads. Each stage offers a diverse range of environments, from open hills, grassy meadows, sprawling commons, wooded paths and expanses of flood plain.
Each leg will be clearly marked out and our event marshals will be on route to help manage any difficult navigation areas, hazards and re-hydration points.
There will be food and water available half-way through each leg, as well as in Upton, as the athletes come through the mid-point stages.
Signing on will be in Upton, starting at 05:30. There is plenty of free parking available. Competitors are able to store their equipment and provisions in their own cars as the event will come through Upton at the half-way point and finish.
Adding their technology and knowledge to the event, SPORTident will be managing the entry, tracking and results.
As experienced sports event organisers, Cube Management UK Ltd have a history of implementing incredible adventures.
